A user closed a PayPal account, created a new PayPal account and linked it to an existing eBay account. However, GetUser continues to return the following in the response:


Why does this happen?


You need to ensure that your eBay account is linked to the correct PayPal account and the PayPal account is verified & a premier or business account.


Here is how to link your eBay and PayPal account:

  • Sign into your eBay account and click on "My eBay"
  • Under My Account, click the “Addresses” link.
  • Click the “View all shipping addresses” link.
  • Check if the linked PayPal account, is the correct one. Otherwise, remove the link and link to the correct one by clicking the Add PayPal Addresses button.

Here is what to check for in your PayPal account:

  • Verify the account, if it is unverified
  • If it is a personal account, upgrade to premier or business account
  • Change the primary email address to the correct email address
    • Go to My Account
    • Under Account Information, click on Email
    • Add the new address if required and confirm it
  • If the primary email address is correct, remove it, add it again and confirm it
  • Add and confirm a new address

If the account is still not linked correctly, contact PayPal customer support.
