What Server URL should I use when I make API calls?

The Server URL depends how what API you use:

Trading API and Platform Notifications:
Environment Format ServerURL
Production SOAP https://api.ebay.com/wsapi
Production SDKs (JAVA, .NET) https://api.ebay.com/wsapi
Production XML https://api.ebay.com/ws/api.dll
Sandbox SOAP https://api.sandbox.ebay.com/wsapi
Sandbox SDKs (JAVA, .NET) https://api.sandbox.ebay.com/wsapi
Sandbox XML https://api.sandbox.ebay.com/ws/api.dll

Shopping API:
Environment ServerURL
Production http://open.api.ebay.com/shopping
Sandbox http://open.api.sandbox.ebay.com/shopping
Note:  For Shopping API, the url is the same for all formats (XML, SOAP, NV and JSON).  You need to specify the format of the request and response as parameters.

Merchandising API:
Environment ServerURL
Production http://svcs.ebay.com/MerchandisingService
Sandbox http://svcs.sandbox.ebay.com/MerchandisingService
Note:  For Merchandising API, the url is the same for all formats (XML, SOAP, NV and JSON).  You need to specify the format of the request and response as parameters.

Finding API:

If there is a mismatch, you are likely encounter one of these errors:
  • The remote server returned an error. (500) Internal Server Error
  • This is an unexpected token.
  • The remote server returned an error. (404) Not Found. 
  • Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=iso88591', but expected 'text/xml'
