I filed a bug to eBay, and eBay has said the ETA for the fix is Q1 of next year!  Why is it going to take so long to fix this issue?

During the busy holiday season, eBay wants to ensure a smooth experience for buyers and sellers alike.  To reduce the amount of change our developers have to handle during the holidays, eBay generally refrains from deploying new code during this period.  Work on new features and open bugs will continue internally, to be deployed on the site once the holiday season is over.
