I am using the User Token Tool on the site to generate a production user token.  In the tool, I select the production environment and then the Keyset which automatically fills in the DevID, AppID and CertID.  When I click on the button get user token, I get the following error:

"Developer ID in session certificate invalid."

I also noticed that my DevID is not correct.  Why is this happening?

This issue is likely to happen to only a few developers that joined the program very early on.  At that time, the Sandbox DevID was different from the Production DevID.  However, due technical and design issues, the web site displays the same DevID for both Production and Sandbox keys.  Hence for developers where it is actually different, the User Token Tool fails.

To fix it this is what you need to do:

  • Select the option to enter your keys manually, instead of selecting your keyset
  • Fill in your production DevID, AppID and CertID
  • click the get user token button and complete the process
