| Find the Best Deals |

To get the best deals and see what is most popular, eBay shoppers need to move fast while comparing prices and sellers so they can make informed decisions. Jake Becker, owner of WatchCount.com, understands a buyer’s needs since he’s been active on eBay since the late ‘90s.
“From my own experience, I know that combing the eBay Web site day in and day out is time-consuming and an unproductive way to see what items are trendy, in good condition and affordable,” says Becker. “That’s why I decided to create WatchCount.com. Through the ePN program, I’m able to generate revenue while supplying a free service for buyers that allows them to target their shopping needs.”

The WatchCount.com site makes it easy for buyers to see how many shoppers are watching an item, the current price and the amount of time left to purchase it – all in real time. Since its launch in early 2008, WatchCount.com has been a novel way to search eBay without even being on the eBay Web site itself.
“Many people want to see the most popular Harry Potter item or the most sought-after antique on eBay.
With WatchCount.com, buyers can view that information at any given moment,” says Becker. “The site is also helpful for collectors looking for informative metrics on valuables such as gold coins.”
For developers like Becker, the ePN program offers a variety of ways to monetize from tailored promotional content. Becker uses eBay’s API to access eBay data, including category information and live listings which can be presented in a customized format for niche sites or desktop and mobile applications. “On ePN’s tools page, there is a range of custom links, banners, logos and widgets that developers can integrate into their own sites, allowing them to freely explore and modify,” says Becker.
After a buyer makes a purchase or becomes an eBay member through visiting sites such as WatchCount.com, the developer receives a portion of the revenue. Becker also appreciates the easy global access available through ePN. “Thankfully, ePN and the Developers Program centralize access to all eBay country-site data through one master API platform,” says Becker.

In addition, WatchCount.com gives eBay sellers a free Widget counter to install in the body of their listing to show how many times an item has been watched. The number of watchers is a combination of potential buyers, other sellers eyeing the item and casual browsers. The widget is a standalone product that sellers use in their listing to boast about the “watch count” of their items, which can spur bidding and sales. A seller who visits the WatchCount.com Web site can easily install the widget and embed it into a listings page for free.
WatchCount.com is an eBay Compatible Application and a member of the eBay Developers Program. Jake Becker, developer of WatchCount.com, is the 2009 eBay Star Developer Award Winner for Service to the Developer Community, honored for his helpful product input about the eBay API platform.

WatchCount.com takes a fresh look at organizing all the hundreds of items being sold. If several sellers have the same or a similar item offered, I may want to comparison shop for best price, lowest shipping or closest location so I can get the item delivered as soon as possible. |

The WatchCount.com Web site makes it easy for eBay buyers to look at the most popular products and services in real-time and at no cost. The site also helps buyers comparison-shop just by typing a keyword into the search box. Jake Becker, owner of WatchCount.com, created the site through eBay’s API that are available through the eBay Partner Network program (ePN) and the eBay Developers program. ePN offers developers a way to generate revenue each time a buyer goes to the developer’s customized Web site and bids for an eBay item, makes a purchase or simply registers as a new member on eBay. |
