This feature pertains to all seller-focused API applications that support Item Specifics (Attributes). The feature improves the behavior of AddItem and listing errors that occur due to a mismatch between Item Specifics submitted to eBay and valid Item Specifics accepted by eBay. |
| |
| Feature Description: |
| This feature enhances eBay’s API attribute framework by defining validation, acceptance and rejection rules for listings submitted with Item Specifics. The purpose of the enhancement is to minimize the number of errors resulting from eBay metadata changes or invalid attributes inherent in listings submitted via the API. Additional enhancements include improved warning and error messages that indicate actionable changes if and when Item Specifics errors are encountered. |
| |
| This feature enables 4 levels of validation to choose from: |
| |
|
Fail on Error: eBay will reject the listing if the attributes values are not 100% supported. In this scenario, all listings will be rejected if one or more attribute values do not match the attributes supported by eBay. |
| |
|
Best Effort: eBay will accept the listing and keep all Item Specifics that are current and valid, and drop any Item Specifics that do not match eBay metadata. This is the default setting. |
| |
|
All or None: eBay will accept the listing and will drop all Item Specifics if any one is not current and valid. |
| |
| Note: for Best Effort and All or None, your listing could still fail if certain required Item Specifics are missing. |
| |
|
Legacy: eBay will apply attribute validation rules as per the behavior prior to the availability of this feature. |
| |
| Feature Benefits: |
|
eBay sellers will encounter fewer impediments and errors when listing on eBay using Item Specifics. Additionally, eBay Developers will be less impacted by attribute business process and Item Specifics changes implemented by eBay, while maintaining the flexibility to determine validity for Item Specifics acceptance levels. |
