What is the Finding API?
The Finding API provides developers access to eBay's new search functionality. The Finding API provides more relevant search results compared to existing search APIs and has powerful search refinement capabilities.

Does the Finding API replace the search calls in the Shopping API?
The Finding API provides search capabilities similar to FindItems and FindItemsAdvanced from the Shopping API. The search calls in the Shopping API will be deprecated after 12 months after the launch of the Finding API.

The Shopping API is only two years old. Why is it being deprecated?
The Finding API is built on eBay's new search technology. Almost all the search functionality on the eBay.com site is now powered by the new search platform. To leverage eBay's new SOA platform and provide developers feature parity with the eBay.com this new API was created.

Does the API require a user's authentication information?
The API supports calls that are authenticated using the calling applications ID. No user credentials are required to make a call.
