Improvements to GetSearchResults
Feature Type:

Updated Feature

Anticipated Launch Date:

September 2005

Developer Impact:

This feature impacts developers who use GetSearchResults.

Feature Description:

Updates to the GetSearchResults API call in the both the legacy schema and the new, unified schema. These improvements include new output fields, the ability to specify the fields returned, and new ways to sort results.

The additional output fields include:

  • if the item can be paid for using PayPal
  • if the item is a store listing, the store name and link
  • the item's country and zip code
  • your distance from the item
  • the item's shipping cost type and price
We will also return spell-check recommendations, low results expansions (such as stores and international listings when the number of returned items is low), and let you sort by country and distance.

Please note the legacy schema is deprecated, but we are providing these updates as a courtesy to existing users. All applications must be converted to the new, unified schema by June 1, 2006.

Feature Benefits:

These changes make it easier to get information about multiple items without making individual GetItem calls, and also reduces the size of the data returned from eBay, which speeds up transfer.
