Listing with Now & New (Sofort & Neu)
Now & New (Sofort & Neu) has been retired as of February 2009.
This feature is supported on the eBay Germany (DE), Austria (AT), and Switzerland (CH) sites only.
The Now & New feature enhances the Buy It Now and fixed price formats. Now & New items are items in new condition that can be purchased immediately (i.e., are Buy It Now or fixed price), offer a predefined return policy, and have shipping costs specified. When a Buy It Now or fixed-price item is listed with Now & New, an alternative icon replaces the Buy It Now icon on applicable eBay Web sites. Users can also filter search results to only retrieve items that are listed with Now & New.
Creating Now & New Items
The requirements for listing with Now & New are the same as the requirements for listing with Buy It Now (e.g., feedback score). See Minimum Feedback Requirements for Various Features and the eBay Web site online help for information about requirements for listing with Buy It Now on each eBay site.
To list an item with Now & New:
- Specify that the item condition is new.
Only brand new items can be listed with Now & New. To specify an item's condition as new, use the Attributes API. See Specifying an Item's Condition.
- Specify a predefined return policy.
Allow your buyers to return the item to you within a specified time after purchase. On the eBay Germany site, a 14-day return policy is standard. See Offering a Clear Return Policy. (You cannot use the Item.ShippingDetails.PaymentInstructions field alone to specify a return policy with Now & New.)
- Enter a Buy It Now price or fixed price.
This allows buyers to purchase your item immediately for a fixed price. Specify a value in the Item.BuyItNowPrice property for Chinese auctions. Specify a value in the Item.StartPrice property for fixed-price and Store Inventory listings.
- Specify shipping costs.
Enter shipping costs so that your buyers can be confident about the final purchase price. See Mixing Shipping Types.
- Specify the Now & New option.
Specify a value of
truein the Item.NowAndNew property. If the seller specifies NowAndNew but does not include the required data (a Buy It Now or fixed price, new condition, return policy, and shipping costs), the listing will fail with an error.
Revising and Relisting Now & New Items
When revising or relisting an item, these rules apply.
- The seller can add the Now & New option when revising an item as long as the item meets all the criteria specified above and the item has no bids and ends in more than 12 hours.
- The seller can remove the Now & New option when revising the item as long as the item has no bids and ends in more than 12 hours. eBay will remove the Now & New (Sofort & Neu) setting from the listing and the icon will no longer be displayed on the eBay Web site.
- If the seller removes any of the required data but does not remove the Now & New option, the request will fail with an error.
- If the item no longer qualifies for Now & New, the request will fail with an error if the Now & New option is specified. This could occur if the seller changes the listing to a category that does not support the condition or return policy option, or if the item's current category no longer supports these features.
Retrieving and Searching for Now & New Items
You can use GetSearchResults to search for Now & New items. Use the
NowAndNewoption in the SearchFlags code list to filter the response to only include Now & New items. The GetItem family of calls (e.g., GetSellerList) and transaction-retrieval calls (e.g., GetSellerTransactions) return a NowAndNew flag to identify Now & New items.
