Steps for Getting User Tokens

If your application will be supporting multiple users, use the steps summarized below to get user tokens.

If your application will only be supporting one user, you only need one token. You can generate a single token here:

Setup for Getting Tokens

  1. Create a generic eBay userID for your company. You will need this to make some calls that configure your application.
  2. Create an runame for your application. The runame will identify your application to eBay when you send users to the user consent flow page.
  3. Register the runame and your redirect URLs (if any) with eBay.

For detailed descriptions of the setup steps, see Setup for Authentication

Getting Tokens for Users

  1. Get a session ID for a user. This will identify the user and your application to eBay when the user fills in the consent form.
  2. Send the user to the consent form. Include the session ID and your runame.
  3. Retrieve the user token.

For detailed descriptions of the steps for getting tokens, see Getting a Token.
